Simple Vintage Gift Idea for Christmas
As a writer, a reader, and vintage chick, I like to combine all my faves when I can. When I first moved to Texas, it was hard to make friends, everyone was friendly, like seriously strangers tell you their life story in the grocery line friendly, but making true friends was hard. Harder when you’re an adult. So, I started a book club. It’s in it’s tenth year, and every year we gals give simple, usually hand gifts for Christmas.
The inspiration for my simple vintage gift idea came after helping my friend’s daughter with her wedding, creating centerpieces with teacups, books, paper flowers, and pearls. I had collected dozens of teacups in my thrifting adventures. We made gorgeous centerpieces that reflected her love of reading. She was in our book club, too until she moved to Vegas! After the wedding, she gave most of the teacups back to me. Some she kept because she thought they were so lovely, and a few guests wanted to take home the centerpieces, so she let them.
Gardening is also a love of mine and especially growing succulents. I find them interesting, varied, and easy to care for. So for my simple vintage gift idea, I created darling teacup planters for my book club girls, in addition to the homemade pomegranate jelly I make.
